General Description: We are a small farm transitioning to organic certification, but using all organic methods. 2017 was our first year in business, and in 2018, we're looking to expand to CSA memberships, and to expand our production diversity into the area of medicinal herbs. You will learn marketing, B2B sales, building an online presence, and preparation of medicinal herbs for sale in addition to all of the farm skills and management of a 30-50 member CSA. We're looking for an intern with at least 3-6months experience growing veggies and flowers for profit. The same skills apply to growing medicinal herbs. The position is 8 months, from March 1-November 1, 2018. There is a stipend available of $150/week, plus 30% of farmer's market and farm stand sales. An additional year-end bonus of $1000 is paid November 1st; you must remain for the season to claim the bonus. Advancement to Farm Management in the 2nd year is possible as well as ownership/profit sharing. Room and board are provided with a 26 foot travel trailer complete with Queen BR, Kitchen, LR, Full Bathroom, air conditioning and heat.

Meals: Delicious dinners are often but not always provided, you must prepare the remainder of your own meals, but are welcome to everything grown on the farm. 

Skills Desired: Requirements 1. Strong interest in organic farming and sustainable living 2. Prior experience on a small farm - at least 4 months 3. Kind and respectful to people and animals - a good heart 4. Able to lift and carry at least 50 lbs, ability to work in all weather conditions. 5. Attention to detail, motivated, work well with others. 

Educational Opportunities: You will learn all skills needed for growing for a 30-50 person CSA, marketing, B2B sales, building an online presence, and growing and preparation of medicinal herbs for sale.

Stipend: There is a stipend available of $150/week, plus 30% of on-farm/farmer's stand sales. A year end bonus of $1000 is paid November 1st; you must remain for the season to claim the bonus, Housing is provided. Overall compensation for the season is anticipated at ~12K for 8 months.

Housing: 26-foot private travel trailer with Queen Bedroom, Kitchen, LR, Full Bath, air and heat is provided, you will be responsible for 1/3 of the electric bill (typically 1/3 of ~$120/mo). High speed internet is also available on the farm, you would be responsible for extra boxes/routers if you would like a connection inside the trailer.

Internship Details: We're looking for an intern with experience growing veggies and flowers for profit. The same skills apply to growing medicinal herbs. The position is 8 months, from March 1-November 1, 2018. The hours are Tuesday - Saturday, 6am-noon, and 4pm-6pm. Chores include: 1. Preparing beds and planting seed and transplants. 2. Maintaining beds and plants - pruning, trellising, tying, weeding, hoeing, etc. 3. Maintaining barn stalls and 15 bird poultry coop. (the horses are out all summer, so very low maintenance). 4. Harvesting vegetables, flowers and herbs. Preparing all for sale including prepping CSA boxes, assembling flower bouquets, tying/screen herbs for drying, etc. There will be some wildcrafting as well. 5. Canning, freezing and packaging veggies, dried flowers and herbs, etc. 6. Supervision of WWOOFers. 7. Keeping an eye on the self-serve on farm stand (keeping it stocked, ensuring items are attractively displayed). 8. Running a farmers market stall 1-2 days/week. 9. Coming up with your own ideas to generate income. We will provide investment to pursue excellent ideas. 10. Building, fencing, repairs, etc . The farm owners and WWOOFers we have during the summer will be available to help on many of these tasks.
